By Stephen C., Policy Assistant
Hello all! This week, I wanted to let you know about an exciting opportunity that I can help you out with.
As you hopefully already know, World Kidney Day is coming up on March 14th. You might ask, “What is World Kidney Day?” To give you the general idea, here is its stated mission:
“The mission of World Kidney Day is to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys to our overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide.”
Obviously, this is something right up our alley here at DPC, and we love World Kidney Day. We celebrate by flying our best, most active Patient Ambassadors to Washington, DC to advocate to Senate and Congressional offices on behalf of all kidney patients. This will be my first fly-in, and I’m really excited to meet everyone and make it a really successful event.
However, you don’t have to be a patient ambassador to take part in World Kidney Day. We’ve been offering to help individuals who want to put on their own World Kidney Day events and have been getting plenty of responses.
Participating in World Kidney Day can mean whatever you want it to. Some people hand out information to fellow patients. Others hand out information to the general public. You can spend as much or as little effort as you want. For folks who don’t know exactly what they want to hand out, I’ve been putting together packages of our most frequently used materials. However, you might want materials that are tailored to a specific audience (people with diabetes, for example), so if that’s the case, I can work with you.
If you want to participate in your area, feel free to contact us.
