We still need your help letting your Members of Congress know that you strongly disagree with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid’s (CMS) proposed 9.4% cut to dialysis treatment funding.
Earlier this month we had an extremely successful Fly-In here in Washington, DC. A Fly-In, if you aren’t familiar with the term, is a focused event that invites individuals to Washington, DC, to meet with key elected officials on Capitol Hill who need to be informed on a specific issue by the people who are personally impacted. Dialysis Patient Citizens (DPC), American Kidney Fund (AKF) and Renal Support Network (RSN) welcomed dialysis patient-advocates from all across the United States.
Some quick stats on the Fly-In:
- 49 states were represented, including Alaska and Hawaii
- 76 patients and family members participated
- 66 dialysis center professionals were also present
- We attended 218 meetings with Members of Congress
The event was extremely impactful, but there is still work that must be done. Now that we have provided decision-makers with the opportunity to hear the personal stories from dialysis patients, their families and their clinic professionals; a follow-up from patients who could not participate will be extremely important and meaningful. Join your fellow dialysis patient-advocates and take a moment to express your outrage at the 9.4% proposed cuts by CMS.
If you weren’t able to participate in the Fly-In, there is still time to urge YOUR Members of Congress to reverse the proposed cuts to dialysis care. Call or write your Members of Congress today! Click here to visit our Legislative Action Center.
